February

February 16: Monthly member meeting.  Meet at 5pm at the Ram Restaurant and Brewery for our Meet and Mingle.  Head over to ID Fish and Game for our meeting starting at 6:30pm.  Program: Our February meeting will have two separate but related topics.  Our first presentation will be member-led where we’ll be presenting an introduction about fishing gear for your body: waders, boots, belts, and bags.  The second part of our meeting will be presented by Kooper Tharp from Angler’s fly shop where he’ll cover tips on fly line care (please bring your reels with fly line attached), wader care and repair, and guidelines to stay safe on the river using a wading staff.

February Outings and Day Trips: We are hosting a Casting Connections day trip where we’ll meet and practice our casting for a couple of hours and then head to a local restaurant for food and beverages.

March

March 18: Monthly member meeting.  Meet at 5pm at the Ram Restaurant and Brewery for our Meet and Mingle.  Head over to ID Fish and Game for our meeting starting at 6:30pm.  Program:  Since float tube season is right around the corner, this will be a member-led discussion about float tubing and float tube safety.  Float tubes are a great way to fly fish lakes and ponds!  They are especially handy during the spring and summer months when the water levels on most all of our rivers are too high to safely wade.  We’ll have some float tubes on hand so you can see what they’re all about.  As with any water sport, safety is crucial so we will also discuss how to stay safe on the water.

March 18: Fly Tying Session:  Do you tie flies or want to learn?  Prior to our March meeting, we will be hosting a fly tying session at Idaho Fish and Game starting at 5pm.  If you’re an experienced fly tyer, bring your equipment and materials and work on a few flies.  If you want to learn, we have 6 vises, tools, and materials for you to use.  We’ll teach you how to tie some simple but effective flies.  We’ll limit this to 6 new fly tyers since we have limited vises.  Please use the comment section on the event page to let us know whether or not you’ll be using our equipment.

Please note!  This activity is in addition to the Meet and Mingle. You’ll have a choice on which event to attend.

March Outings and Day Trips: We will be heading to Eagle Island State Park for a day of float tube fishing.  Great opportunity for those new to float tubing to come learn from our experienced members.
