November Member Meeting and Presentation:
Map, Compass, and Navigation
with Mark Szentes/IMSARU

Mark Szentes and members of the Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue Unit (IMSARU) will provide a hands-on demonstration of compass and map reading. They will review the utility and technique of compass navigation with a map. These ageless tools will keep you from getting lost when your watch, phone, or other electronic GPS device fails in the backcountry. Plus it’s just good to know this stuff!

If you have a compass, bring it with you so you can learn (or re-learn) how to use it. If you don’t have a compass, there will be some provided.

IMSARU volunteers will be working closely with WFFI members during the demonstration. Mask wearing is recommended. This is a live meeting. There will not be a Zoom option, however, the slide segment of the event will be recorded and posted online.
