Silver Creek June 13-15
PLEASE READ the entire event description before you RSVP! Since we’ve moved away from MeetUp, our RSVP process has changed.
We’re heading to the infamous Silver Creek for a weekend of fishing! We’re hoping to hit the brown drake hatch, but that hatch is dependent largely on temperature. Regardless, even if the hatch doesn’t happen, this is still an amazing brown trout and rainbow trout fishery. Some members will choose to hire a guide; others just DIY. You can float tube and walk-and-wade.
In addition to wading, floating Silver Creek is a great way to fish the creek. However, be aware that Idaho Fish & Game regulations REQUIRE that you use a float tube– one that places you down in the water (as opposed to fishing from a kayak, SUP, or pontoon). Most people use a “donut” style round float tube, but a u-shaped float tube also works just fine and is permissible. The creek can be busy (especially if the brown drake hatch happens), so good etiquette and consideration to fellow anglers is always appreciated. Please be aware that float tubing in the Nature Conservancy is restricted to certain areas; please do your research!
There are also other areas to fish. The Big Wood River is close by as is Magic Reservoir.

What you’ll need:
• Food, water, gear etc you’ll need for the weekend
• ID Fishing License
• Flies: Picabo Angler is a GREAT resource; check their website or stop by their shop for their fly recommendations.
• Equipment and Clothing: Your equipment will vary based on whether you’ll be floating or wading. You will need a float tube, pump, fins, personal floatation device, and whistle (if floating), waders w/belt, boots, rod, reel, flies, net, and anything else as far as fishing goes. The weather is typically warm at Silver this time of year, but be sure to check the weather and come prepared. The weather there can change in a heartbeat, so plan for all of it. Never trust Mother Nature…..plan for everything. Be sure to pack bug spray! It can be VERY buggy at Silver.
